It has the scenic view of Taal, a heated infinity pool—and the vineyard
Megaworld subsidiary Global-Estate Resorts Inc. (GERI) highlighted 2018 with the inauguration of Twin Lakes Hotel in Laurel, Batangas.
Opened last December, it is easily becoming a popular destination in Tagaytay, not only because of the scenic view of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano, but also due to its neoclassic architecture and its ultra-modern amenities especially its heated, infinity-edge pool.
Visitors say it has the “most beautiful” Starbucks in the country, given its postcard-pretty setting.
The hotel is an attractive new option for tourists, families and staycationers. It sits in a budding township—the trademark development of Megaworld.
It adjoins the Twin Lakes commercial strip—a 1,200-ha. property for residential condominiums, villages, as well as leisure and commercial establishments.
The site is easily accessible from the Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway, only a few minutes’ drive from Tagaytay coming from Cavite.
The hotel is in the heart of the Twin Lakes integrated tourism estate development.
The Twin Lakes property seeks to redefine real estate development in the country by creating an integrated development centered on tourism.
Twin Lakes has a quaint, charming commercial strip, which has a more intimate feel and relaxed vibe than city malls.
Tourists and locals are discovering the restaurants in the strip mall.
In the hotel is Twin Lakes Café, an all-day-dining restaurant that faces the vineyard and Taal Lake. At the opening, we enjoyed their signature dishes, such as Spaghetti Vongole, Pollo Veronica and Lengua Financiera.
“Our restaurant will also be serving traditional Filipino food,” said Jun R. Jimenez, the hotel general manager. “We’ll be serving bulalo, tawilis, suman and, of course, kapeng barako, since we’re in Batangas.”
The hotel and the surrounding structures have a romantic ambiance, with its neoclassical-inspired design, resembling the old Haussmannian buildings in Paris.
There are 122 rooms—each with a balcony where guests can enjoy the fresh air and vistas of Taal Lake and Volcano.
The rooms are composed of Superior (up to 34 sqm), Deluxe (up to 38 sqm) and Executive (up to 38 sqm) There are also two-bedroom Family Suites and Presidential Suites (up to 86 sqm), which both come with their own living rooms.
The hotel has a unique view not many hotels have—that of its own vineyard, which adds to the old world charm.
“Twin Lakes Hotel is the only hotel in the country with an actual vineyard in its backyard,” said Jimenez.
Twin Lakes Hotel received the Country Winner award for the Best Hotel Development in Asia category at the 2018 Asia Property Awards in Bangkok, Thailand.
Also recently, the hotel was named the Best Hotel Development at the 2018 Philippines Property Awards, recognized for its exemplary design, location and huge potential for tourism.
“We are the best hotel, so far, in the area,” said Jimenez. “We’re particularly proud of our vineyard. Eventually, guests can have grape-picking activities, and the hotel will also come up with grape-based pastries and dishes.”
The hotel’s generously-sized, heated infinity pool allows guests to go for a swim amid the cold climate of Tagaytay.
Other amenities include an in-house wellness spa, a business center, boardroom spaces, meeting rooms, a game room, a pool deck, a kiddie pool and an outdoor lounge—again with views of Taal Lake and Volcano.
Its grand ballroom has a banquet capacity of 500 people.
