‘Art in Aura’ aims to make art more accessible, relatable to the public

SM Aura and Art Lounge Manila have partnered to present “Art in Aura: An Art Market of Visions & Masterpieces,” an art exhibition that aims to enchant art enthusiasts from all walks of life. This unique showcase combines a diverse collection of artworks, featuring masterpieces by established artists and fresh creations from emerging talents. The result is a beautiful melting pot of creativity and inspiration.

“Art in Aura” stands out with its wide array of artistic mediums, from traditional paintings and sculptures to avant-garde digital art boxes. This eclectic mix ensures visitors are treated to a truly immersive sensory experience. By igniting curiosity and sparking conversations, the exhibition provides a platform for artists to express their unique perspectives and visions. As part of SM Aura’s ongoing initiative to promote Filipino artists and make art more accessible, this exhibit is a key highlight.

One of the exhibition’s standout features is the rare opportunity to view works by iconic Filipino masters such as Jose Joya, Botong Francisco, and Vicente Manansala outside of a traditional museum setting. These masterpieces are enhanced with Augmented Reality (AR) technology, allowing visitors to explore the artworks in a new and interactive light. The AR elements add an immersive dimension to the viewing experience, making it even more engaging.

Visitors to “Art in Aura” can also explore and purchase art-forward merchandise from renowned establishments such as Galerie Francesca Emporium, Fundacion Sansó, Galerie Joaquin Collective, Imao, and Scarletbox.io. With prices starting as low as P100, art becomes accessible to everyone, ensuring that anyone can bring home a piece of creativity.

Art holds significant importance in today’s world, serving as a reflection of society and a catalyst for change. It encourages creativity, encourages critical thinking, and provides a medium for individuals to express themselves. In an age where digital distractions are rampant, art offers a much-needed escape, allowing people to connect with their inner selves and the world around them.

Susanne Tiausas, managing director at Art Lounge Manila, emphasizes the importance of making art accessible: “Art should be for everyone. By bringing exhibitions like ‘Art in Aura’ to the public, we hope to inspire a greater appreciation for the arts and encourage more people to engage with creative works.”

SM Supermalls has been a strong advocate for bringing art and culture to the masses through various initiatives. As part of a nationwide campaign, 85 SM malls are hosting art exhibits and events throughout the year, featuring both established and emerging Filipino artists. The goal is to make art more accessible and affordable to everyday people.

The exhibition at SM Aura features works from 75 artists, showcasing a diverse range of styles and mediums to appeal to different tastes. Additionally, the exhibition incorporates art-inspired merchandise like prints on mugs and tote bags, allowing more people to enjoy and appreciate art in an affordable way. This merchandise also helps promote the artists and their brands to a wider audience.

“While there are certainly fads that drive collectors’ interests, the art scene in the Philippines is growing in quality as more talented young artists emerge,” said Tiausas. “However, artists still face challenges in gaining recognition beyond Manila. Exhibitions like these aim to spotlight deserving artists from all over the country.”

With continued efforts to bring art to the public through exhibitions, merchandise, and new technologies, the future of Philippine art looks promising. Art spaces like Art Lounge Manila are committed to discovering and promoting emerging talent from all parts of the country, ensuring that the local art scene continues to thrive.
