With healthcare costs continuously rising, securing reliable health insurance has never been more essential. AXA Philippines, one of the country’s largest insurers, introduces AXA Health Max Elite, a critical illness plan designed to offer extensive protection, multiple claims, and financial security when Filipinos need it most.
AXA Health Max Elite redefines critical illness insurance by covering over 150 conditions at different stages of severity. Unlike traditional plans, it allows multiple claims of up to 400% of the sum insured, ensuring long-term financial support.

“We designed AXA Health Max Elite by listening to our customers’ needs. We wanted to provide not just a one-time payout, but an insurance plan that stays with you throughout life’s uncertainties,” said Nandy Villar, AXA Philippines’ chief marketing officer.
Key features of AXA Health Max Elite include up to 9x coverage, where policyholders can claim for major and minor illnesses multiple times. It also offers first-in-market pre-early stage protection, a pioneering feature covering early-stage diagnoses, allowing proactive medical intervention.
The plan also features recovery support, which is coverage for recurring critical illnesses like cancer, stroke, and heart disease, reinforcing long-term security. More importantly, it also has ICU and life-saving surgery benefits—financial assistance even for unlisted conditions, provided hospitalization lasts at least five days.

Mental health coverage
For the first time in Philippine insurance, AXA Health Max Elite covers serious mental health conditions like depression, mild schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder.
“Mental health is just as important as physical health,” Villar said. “Especially after the pandemic, more people recognize the need for professional support. We want to ensure they get the help they need, free from financial worries.”
Recognizing the importance of protecting entire households, AXA Health Max Elite offers a 10% discount for families enrolling at least two members. This makes critical illness protection more accessible to Filipinos who want to secure their loved ones’ futures.

Despite the clear need for health insurance, penetration remains low. Villar said, “Only about 2% of Filipinos are insured. Many rely on HMO coverage, but it’s often not enough for major illnesses.”
To bridge this gap, AXA has made its plans more accessible and relevant by including benefits tailored to the evolving needs of Filipinos. “We took our experience and enhanced our products to make them more useful and impactful for our customers,” he said.
With up to P10 million in coverage, innovative benefits, and industry-first features, AXA Health Max Elite empowers Filipinos to face health challenges with confidence.
