Expat hotelier back in PH as GM of new SMHCC property

Lanson Place Mall of Asia general manager Laurent Boisdron

After a memorable two-year stint as general manager of the luxe Conrad Manila, French hotelier Laurent Boisdron is back to lead the soon-to-open Lanson Place Mall of Asia, the first property of the hotel brand in the country.

With over 29 years of experience in the hospitality industry across four continents, he will serve as vice president and general manager of the prestigious Hong Kong-based property which is currently under construction at the SM Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City.

Prior to his current appointment, Boisdron spearheaded the pre-opening and opening teams of Sable Navy Pier, and general manager of the Curio Collection by Hilton in Chicago, Illinois.

The amiable balikbayan expat expressed excitement on his new engagement of introducing a new brand and hotel concept, as well as the prospect of working again with the Filipino workforce which he considers as among the world’s best.

Boisdron also helmed Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu City, and posted a record of being its longest-serving general manager and imbibing the vibe of the country’s central archipelago.

As a testament to his excellence, he received the 2021 Hotel Management’s GMs To Watch (USA) and the 2015 President’s Award for outstanding quality for Radisson North America.

In the local hotel scene, he bagged the 2019 CMO Asia Award for one of the Best General Managers in the Philippines and the 2017 Asia Pacific Hotel of the Year Award for Radisson Blu Cebu.

With the new brand he will be stewarding, Boisdron is confident that Lanson Place Mall of Asia can easily make its mark in the Philippine market with its unique hotel concept and mixed vibe.

“With its first entry in the Philippines, Lanson Place Mall of Asia is well positioned to perfect the art of genuine hospitality and create a warm sanctuary one will always want to return and feel at home with,” Boisdron says.

Located by the famed Manila Bay sunset, the five-star property masterfully blends active lifestyle, the comforts of home, and the flair of the corporate world.

Lanson Place is a wholly owned subsidiary of the publicly listed Wing Tai Properties Limited in Hong Kong, which currently manages seven properties. The brand comprises the luxury Personal Hotels and Residences in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and two upcoming properties in Manila and Melbourne.

The hotel group aims to grow the hospitality chain across the Asia-Pacific region and explore investment and management opportunities in major cities.

Lanson Place Mall of Asia will have 247 well-appointed rooms and 143 serviced apartments with impressive views for long- and short-staying guests, a fitness gym, recreational outlets, a swimming pool for both adults and kids on the 11th floor amidst the beautiful Manila Bay sunset, mid-sized function rooms, co-working space on the third floor, and amenities typical of a global standard star-rated facility.

It will also have great food and beverage spots offering gastronomical treats catering to various age groups and dining preferences.

With its proximity to the SMX Convention Center and the eCom office building clusters, the hotel can support the accommodation requirements of business travel, as well as meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE) activities.

As a departure from the rigidity of the typical hotel setup, Lanson Place Mall of Asia embraces community spirit by offering warm and sheltered spaces with a club-like feel, such as co-working and communal areas, to provide opportunities for guests to cultivate meaningful personal bonds.

Lanson Place Mall of Asia is the latest addition to the growing portfolio of SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. (SMHCC), which includes Taal Vista Hotel, Pico Sands Hotel, Conrad Manila of the Hilton Group, together with Radisson Blu Cebu and Park Inn by Radisson hotels (North Edsa, Clark, Iloilo, Bacolod, Davao) of the Radisson Hotel Group.

SMHCC’s current portfolio comprises nine hotel properties across major cities in the country, with an aggregate inventory of more than 2,200 rooms, as well as over 41,000 sq.m. of leasable space under the SMX Convention Centers.
