Shift Content Hub redefines storytelling through meaningful collaboration, innovation

Shift Content Hub is transforming the content creation landscape with a focus on impactful storytelling and strategic collaboration. Founded in 2019 by Blas Tanquilut, known as Direk Blas among his peers, the company has quickly risen from a startup to a key player in the creative industry, working with brands like Mr. DIY, Converge, and Megaworld.

Driven by a passion for storytelling, Direk Blas left a successful corporate career to pursue his love for video production. He started creating content for brands, often for free, which eventually attracted more clients. “It was the quality and relationships that drew people to us,” he said.

Shift Content Hub differentiates itself by handling all production in-house, ensuring both quality and efficiency. By bringing all production capabilities under one roof, Shift Content Hub not only reduces costs but also promotes a culture of excellence and passion among its team members. This integrated model allows the company to deliver high-quality content that resonates deeply with audiences, making each project memorable.

“We focus on collaboration, not competition,” Direk Blas explained, emphasizing the value of partnering with traditional agencies rather than competing against them.

A key element of Shift’s success is its inclusive work environment, particularly for its Gen Z employees. With around 50 team members, the company nurtures talent through mentorship, which Direk Blas sees as crucial for growth. “I’m not Superman; I can’t do everything. Mentoring the next generation is how we scale,” he said.

Despite its success, maintaining consistency with an expanding team is a challenge. To address this, Direk Blas implemented a distributed leadership model, empowering his directors to take ownership of their projects. “Consistency is key,” he noted, adding that shared responsibility is central to upholding the company’s standards.

Looking ahead, Direk Blas envisions expanding Shift Content Hub beyond the Philippines. His dream is to create content that resonates globally, while highlighting Filipino culture. “I want the Filipino to be proud of what we create and make an impact worldwide,” he said.

As the company grows, Direk Blas remains focused on nurturing a creative, collaborative, and inclusive environment. SHIFT, which stands for Sharing How I Faced Trials, reflects his mission to inspire others to chase their dreams.
