The Philippine music industry reached a new milestone with the launch of The Official Philippines Chart, an industry-backed ranking of the country’s top-performing songs based on streaming data. Operated by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) and supported by Philippine Recorded Music Rights Inc. (PRM), the chart serves as an authoritative barometer of what Filipinos are listening to, shaping the future of Original Pilipino Music (OPM).
The launch party, held recently at Clubhouse BGC at The Palace, brought together major industry players and chart-topping artists to celebrate a new era of music recognition in the country. The Official Philippines Chart joins other regional charts under the Official Southeast Asia Charts, which also include Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore.

A game-changer for the music industry
Unlike traditional popularity rankings, The Official Philippines Chart aggregates official streaming data from Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Deezer, ensuring transparency and accuracy in measuring an artist’s reach.
“Numbers don’t lie. They tell a story—a narrative of hard work, dedication, and passion,” said Roslyn Pineda, general manager of Sony Music Philippines and PRM Board Member. “With The Official Philippines Chart, we now have a clear picture of who is truly making waves in the industry.”
For local artists, this recognition isn’t just about prestige—it provides data-driven insights that can influence career growth, industry trends, and even global opportunities. Enzo Valdez, general manager of Universal Music Philippines, echoed this sentiment: “Having a reliable and accurate measure of top-performing tracks is invaluable to the industry. It highlights the immense talent we have in the country.”
Celebrating Filipino music excellence
Among the highlights of the night was the recognition of BINI as Top Local Artist of the Year. The P-pop sensation dominated 2024, proving their commercial success and cultural impact. The eight-member group, known for hits like “Pantropiko” and “Karera,” expressed their gratitude on stage.
“This award pushes us to work even harder in putting Filipino music on the global stage,” Jhoanna of BINI said.
The evening also honored TJ Monterde, whose heartfelt ballad “Palagi” was named Top Local Song of the Year. The singer-songwriter, known for his deeply emotional lyrics, had a stellar year with a sold-out three-night concert and millions of streams.
“This past year has been phenomenal,” Monterde said. “I owe this success to my fans, my ‘bituins,’ who have supported me every step of the way. I’m incredibly honored to be recognized by The Official Philippines Chart, and I’m excited for what’s next for OPM.”
The event also featured performances from rising stars like Suyen, dwta, Nior, XYVRL, and One Click Straight, showcasing the diverse talent that continues to shape OPM’s evolving sound.
With The Official Philippines Chart now in place, Filipino artists have a credible, data-driven platform that recognizes their influence, validates their success, and connects them to audiences worldwide. Released every Tuesday, the chart can be accessed at www.officialseacharts.com and on its official Instagram and Facebook channels.
As Sarah Ismail, interim managing director of Warner Music Philippines, put it: “These charts aren’t just about numbers. They’re about recognizing the impact of our artists and reinforcing the Philippines’ position as an influential player in the global music scene.”
