With prices of fresh produce so ridiculously high these days—trade fairs that sell vegetables and other fresh produce that came directly from the producers themselves—or the farmers—is very much welcome. Prices of produce sold at these events are very much lower as middleman and other factors that make vegetable prices higher in wet markets are taken out of the procurement process.

One such event which is scheduled on March 26 is dubbed the “Grand Bagsakan”—a project of the Department of Trade and Industry (through the Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion) and DTI Region II in partnership with Mayani and Gcash.

Through the Bagksan project, DTI  is providing a regular venue for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) including farmers and cooperatives to sell their products during the pandemic.

The Grand Bagsakan is a trade fair that features the e-commerce platform mayani.ph that allows customers to pre order selected products.

Available for sale at the “Grand Bagsakan” is a big volume and variety of fresh produce from the Cagayan Valley Region. The event also makes use of Mayani.ph e-commerce platform where consumers can pre order selected products. Buyers can pre-order by clicking on clicking on https://cutt.ly/BAGSAKAN or https://mayani.ph/pages/the-grand-bagsakan.

For as low as fifty pesos (P50), buyers can purchase a vegetable basket with half a kilo each of repolyo, kamatis, kalabasa, wombok and sayote. Pre-orders will be accepted before Wednesday, 24 March at 12nn for pick-up at the DTI Head Office in Makati or delivery to buyers’ homes on March 26.

For safety and convenience, the DTI highly encourages buyers to pre-order online and opt for home delivery. Transactions are made safer and more convenient through GCash.

Walk-in customers may also shop in person at the Grand Bagsakan on March 26 at the DTI Parking Lot along Jupiter Street, Bel-air, Makati City. Strict social distancing and health protocols shall be observed.

Mayani will strictly accept GCash payments only for pre-orders and for walk-in purchases.

The Grand Bagsakan is expected to move tons of fresh produce from Region 2 (Cagayan Valley Region) to Metro Manila as it will be held once a month at the DTI Parking Lot starting March 26 from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mark your calendars to save the dates for the succeeding Grand Bagsakan events:
