Cebu City will hold its first ever Cebu Food and Wine Festival (CFWF), which will bring together the city’s hospitality players in a move to revive the tourism and culinary businesses in the island. 

The festival, which will take place on April 18 to May 2, was organized by the nonprofit group Ministry of Wine and Food, which, according to its FB page, incubates “social dining bubbles” to create extraordinary seats of experience on food and wine, highlighting local endemic ingredients with national and international chefs in Cebu shores.

The 15-day CFWF will feature over 60 events, which will include a grand reception beach dinner at Crimson Resort and Spa Mactan, a grand finale brunch at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, a Saturday Farmers’ Market, reserve tastings, pop-up dinners, cooking classes, and a silent auction, among others. All these activities aim to highlight the culinary prowess of the produce, people, and places of Cebu, according to restaurateur Kate Dychangco-Anzani, who leads the CFWF. 

According to her statement in her FB page, the festival is “a recovery project for the hospitality industry” in the province in cooperation with the Department of Tourism, Cebu City Tourism Commission, and in line with the 500th Quincentennial commemorations in Cebu.

She urged industry players to participate in the event, register through www.cebufoodandwinefestival.com and support this province-wide movement.

The CFWF will feature partner restaurants executing four-hand dinners, lunches, “special ingredient” events, menu tasting, featuring specialty wines from different regions in France, Italy, New Zealand and Australia, club bookings and cooking classes.

But because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the participating restaurants will have limited seating capacity and will be on a first come, first serve basis.

The CFWF was created to highlight the culinary prowess of the produce, people and places of Cebu, according to the group’s webpage.
