For many, their day starts once they have had a good cup of coffee. But what if that brew not only kickstarts your day but also makes you feel like you’ve truly woken up worthy?

In a coffee shop inside the UP Diliman campus in Quezon City, there’s a phrase scribbled by the entrance that says “Woke up worthy.” It may seem simple, but to many who may have woken up on the wrong side of the bed that morning, that may be the affirmation they need to finally perk up.

That—and the awesome cup of joe that “What about Coffee?” (or WACo for short) offers, of course.

WACo brewed its first cup of coffee in February 2023. Located inside the University Hotel, it quickly earned a reputation for offering more than just a caffeine fix. It’s a space where students, professors, and visitors alike can gather, study, socialize, and indulge in artisanal coffee and delectable treats.

The moment customers step into WACo, they are greeted with a cozy and vibrant ambiance with a glass ceiling that lets natural light in. This fusion of modernity and comfort blends well with the University Hotel’s art deco design, creating an environment that caters to both productivity and relaxation.

WACo is not just a café; it’s a testament to coffee craftsmanship. Its baristas brew specialty-grade beans that ensure every cup of coffee is a delight.

For traditionalists, the Americano and Cappuccino remain steadfast options. But for more adventurous ones, the Iced Spanish Latte is a visual treat with its layered presentation and delectable taste.

WACo’s menu isn’t limited to coffee either. Some of its non-coffee drinks include the Uji Matcha Latte, Milo Dinosaur, and Lychee Lemonade. The Triple Berry Burst is also a highly recommended must-try. The café also offers delectable pastries that go well with the drinks they serve.

Open from 6am to 9pm every day, WACo has become a haven for people seeking respite, productivity, or camaraderie within the campus. The café’s potential is not confined to its physical location. With plans for franchising and a mobile coffee bar that can grace private events, WACo extends its warm embrace beyond the confines of the university.

So, the next time you find yourself in UP Diliman, ask yourself, “What about Coffee?”—and discover a place that is an invitation to embrace the day with a sense of purpose and a warm cup in hand.
