If you’re someone who fancies French cuisine, you’re in luck. There’s a new dining destination in the metro that offers the finest French-inspired cuisine—from irresistibly scrumptious pastries such as the indulgent Kouign-Amann; to the classic French dish Coq Au Vin.

It’s called the Baker J, a full-service patisserie and restaurant, reminiscent of casual and comfortable Parisian cafés. Located right beside the Ground Lobby of Crimson Hotel Filinvest City in Alabang, a visit to Baker J is a gastronomic tour of the most delicious French cuisine—and so much more.

Baker J started as a virtual patisserie in 2020 before it transitioned into a full fledged restaurant in June of this year.

“At Baker J, we take pride of the French culinary experience—from sourcing the ingredients to the way the food is prepared and served, to the culinary artwork of our French chef Nicolas Pasdeloup, to the different types of cheeses and wines used in cooking,” said James Montenegro of Chroma Hospitality Country Manager, the company that runs the Crimson Hotel chains in the country.

While Baker J would continue with its take-out and online orders with delivery options, the patisserie has made sure that those who want to dine in (especially with lockdown restrictions easing a bit) can do so in a relaxed chic environment.

The Baker J resto is an ideal place to catch up with loved ones and colleagues or grab a hot cup of coffee on the way to work. With 30 people at full capacity (reduced capacity at the moment to maintain proper social distancing), Baker J is quite spacious.

Aside from their baked goods featuring classique and nouveau French offers, Baker J now also boasts of an extensive menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Open as early as 6:00am, Baker J’s breakfast menu includes Eggs Benedict, which you could enjoy with sautéed spinach (Eggs Florentine) or with smoked salmon (Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict); tangy and savory Shakshuka, which is available in a vegetarian-friendly version and a meaty iteration.

Other must-try meals include the rich yet light Quiche Lorraine. There’s also Baker J’s signature Confit de Canard made with duck confit croquettes; the healthy but satisfying Pan-Seared Salmon Steak with Ratatouille; and the ever-favorite French breakfast Tartines, which includes the Salmon Tartine with Avocado and Goat’s Cheese and the brunch-perfect traditional Croque Monsieur with Grùyere.

Baker J’s signature beverages are also topnotch—from refreshing summer drinks to detox options, espresso, frappé, and even mocktails and cocktails.
