Dusit Thani Manila brings the joy of Christmas festivities with the reopening of The Pantry, an all-day dining restaurant famous for its Indian, Italian, Filipino and pan-Asian cuisines that people enjoy in a casual environment.

The Pantry’s concept sprang from farm-to-fork dining, a food movement where restaurants and hotels buy produce directly from local farmers.

Having a farm-to-fork concept elevates the dining experience that the hotel provides to its guests, according to Shariza Relova, Director of Marketing and Communications at Dusit Thani Manila. “To craft culinary creations, The Pantry makes use of locally sourced fair-trade goods and organic ingredients.”

Introduced in 2015, The Pantry has evolved to cater to the demands of guests. It introduced two new buffet concepts Geaux Friday, a Louisiana-inspired dining, and Saturday Night Grill. The latter, which is a play on words of the famous movie, offer grilled food that range from meats to seafood, and a selection of wines, a perfect match to grilled food.

Geaux Friday menu is a homage to the rich heritage of Louisiana cuisine, a byproduct of the different cultures–French, Spanish, and Scottish that have taken roots in this US estate.

The buffet features an outdoor grill offering fresh off-the-grill specialties like Angus beef brisket, baby back ribs, charred chicken and sausages that come with a vibrant blend of sauces–tart and smokey barbeque sauce, nutty chimichurri or hot mustard.

Louisiana inspired food choices don’t stop at the grill section. Head to the French quarter to sample shrimp etoufee, cheesy shrimp and grits, fried catfish, creole jambalaya, cajun stuffed chicken and New Orleans gumbo. The classic Seafood Boil, which is a must-try, combines plump mussels and clams, succulent shrimps, sausage, marble potatoes and sweet corn.

For those who wish to eat light, the Pantry has varieties of salads, including creole potato salad, classic coleslaw, mixed greens with roasted carrots, and radish and cumin dressing. Classic soup choices such as Texas style two bean soup and crushed tortilla with sour cream are pure bliss.

For those who want carbo-loading to energize their bodies, the choices are many: white toast, corn bread, corn on the cob, grilled courgettes with parmesan, roasted crushed baby potatoes with thyme and garlic. Of course, rice and beans are also another filling options. Also try the classic Beignet, a popular New Orleans staple.

The Pantry’s Geaux Friday feast is more enjoyed with wine–and there are plenty to choose from. From reds to rosé, light to full-bodied, and mid-priced to premium wines–the wine pop-up shop at The Pantry has it.

As a family-oriented restaurant, The Pantry also offers a weekend brunch in an outdoor dining setup. Every Saturday and Sunday, the restaurant extends the dining area to the al fresco premises where families can enjoy  safe dining in a patio surrounded by lush greenery that covers a Japanese garden too. Here, you can also find a koi pond. These elements all add to a laid back weekend vibe.

At the al fresco dining, delightful treats are presented in food carts or food stations that feature a variety of signature dishes and all-time favorites. Try the Thai tapas, Pad  Thai, Filipino street food, gourmet smoked sausages, Japanese food, and delectable desserts.

For the diners who mind their health and waistlines, as well as food preference, the Pantry is also serving “Clean Cuisine” or healthy selections that promote a well-balanced eating. Expect nothing short of the best from responsibly-sourced ingredients and veggie-packed, lower-calorie dishes like salads, rice bowls, wraps, and pita sandwiches.

Kids would love some activities here like trying out the giant Jenga and tic-tac-toe play structures.
