SotoGrande Palawan in Puerto Princesa has officially opened its doors, introducing a notable new player in the local hospitality landscape. Located within the 33-hectare Catalina Lake Residences in Barangay Sta. Lourdes, this new hotel offers a balance of modern comfort and local charm, providing hassle-free accommodations for both leisure and business travelers.
During the grand opening in August, Jayson Robles, vice president for project development at Sta. Lucia Land Inc., shared his excitement: “This hotel has been a labor of love, and we’re thrilled to welcome guests to experience the unparalleled hospitality and stunning natural beauty that Palawan has to offer.” Operated by Enderun Hotels, SotoGrande Palawan features 147 rooms and is the sixth property in the SotoGrande brand, with existing locations in Davao, Cebu, and Baguio.

Robles highlighted the hotel’s potential to cater to the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) market, thanks to its multi-purpose ballroom and function rooms, which can accommodate up to 200 guests. This expansion into Palawan aligns with the brand’s goal to cater to both corporate and leisure clients.
The hotel also features amenities that are designed to enhance a guest’s stay without being overwhelming. Guests can take a dip in the outdoor pool, stay active in the fitness center, or shoot some hoops in the basketball court.
Guests can also enjoy a leisurely stroll around the expansive Lake Catalina development, home to a large man-made lake that draws an array of wild birds, offering a peaceful and scenic environment.
Chef Thomas Wenger, senior vice president and senior culinary consultant of Enderun Hotels, on the other hand, emphasized the importance of integrating local flavors into the hotel’s dining experience. “We want our guests to feel immersed in the rich culture of this incredible island,” Wenger said. The hotel’s restaurant highlights fresh seafood and local ingredients, offering guests a true taste of Palawan.

Strategically located near the Honda Bay Port, SotoGrande Palawan provides easy access to popular tourist attractions like island-hopping tours. The hotel is also committed to sustainability, with many staff members being locals, contributing to community development.

With introductory rates starting at around P2,500 per night, SotoGrande Palawan aims to offer an affordable yet enriching experience. Wenger said: “We hope to make the SotoGrande Palawan experience accessible to a wider audience and showcase the true allure of this remarkable destination.”
