Bohol to elevate tourism experience with ‘UBE’ seal of excellence

The local government of Bohol plans to elevate the tourism experience in one of the top destination spots in the country through the introduction of a seal of excellence to be given to accredited tourism destinations in Bohol.

The “Ultimate Bohol Experience (UBE)” seal will be granted by the local government to tourism destinations that get accredited for local promotions support, and after passing the stringent policies that  would provide tourists an elevated kind of Bohol experience they will never forget, according to a Philippine Information Agency (PIA) story.

Bohol tourism destinations will receive the “UBE” seal once they get accredited based on the criteria by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and local regulations, according to Bohol Governor Arthur Yap.

The regulations would assess the compliance of tourism industry workers and establishments to the new normal, which include having a system for contact tracing, and operations that follow the tenets of sustainable tourism.

For the “UBE” seal, establishments and resorts will be checked for health and safety protocols, compliance with the carrying capacity, a set online system in place for booking and payments to assure lesser contact, compliance with the environmental standards, as well as requirements for sustainable tourism.

The latter has to do with resorts having wastewater management and use of eco-friendly technologies to lessen carbon footprint. These standards are already in place in some resorts and hotels in Bohol.

Bohol is targeting to reopen its tourist destinations in the last quarter of 2020.
