PH-branded coco jam, other organic coconut products becoming popular among Russian consumers

Philippine coconut jam is gaining popularity among Russian consumers who are now following the healthy lifestyle trend by consuming organic food products.

Philippine-branded organic coconut products, which include coconut milk, coconut cream, balsamic sauce, aminos sauces, coconut syrup, coconut oil, and coconut jam have found their way to Russian soil via Ozon and WildBerries, two top online retail stores in Russia.

In particular, coconut jam is gaining popularity among Russian consumers who are now following the healthy lifestyle trend by consuming organic food products.

Established in 1988, Ozon is one of the first e-commerce companies in Russia and has been referred to as the “Amazon of Russia,” while WildBerries is Russia’s largest online retailer.

The wide range of Philippine organic coconut products available at Ozon and WildBerries include refined coconut oil, organic refined coconut oil, organic coconut sauce aminos, organic coconut sauce balsamic, organic coconut syrup, organic coconut vinegar, organic coconut sugar, organic coconut sauce with vinegar, organic coconut jam, and coconut jam with cacao.

Ten new coconut products of Quezon’s Best, a Philippine manufacturer of organic, and Halal- and Kosher-certified coconut products were added to the list. Earlier this year, Filipino brand Coco Daily organic coconut milk was made available in the Russian market.

The inclusion of Filipino-made products in Russian retail stores is a welcome development, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

“Finally, a wider range of Philippine-branded organic coconut food products are now being sold and made available to mainstream consumers in Russia through their online stores. With this development, Russians can have a taste of our quality world-class food products,” said Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez.

Lopez said Philippine coconut products are picking up steam in the Russian market because of its pure taste and absence of the unhealthy additives. For example, coconut jam, which is completely new for the Russian market, is gaining more popularity among local buyers as Russian customers are opting to buy more organic products and healthy foods.

Lopez added that Philippine coconut products are gaining momentum and garnering high ratings from Russian customers in the online supermarkets’ websites because the goods are seen as natural alternatives to similar products.

Pasciolco Agri Ventures is the manufacturer and exporter of Quezon’s Best organic coconut products, while Century Pacific Agri Ventures Inc. (CPAVI) is the manufacturer of Coco Daily organic coconut milk. New separate container shipments of organic coconut products from the said Philippine companies arrived at Saint Petersburg port last month.

PanAsia ImpEx Ltd., the Russian importer of these new products, has expressed its commitment to continue working with Philippine exporters in sourcing organic products, because of their high sales potential in the Russian market.

Pan-Asia Impex Ltd.’s partnership with the Philippines stemmed from a meeting with the DTI’s Philippine Trade & Investment Center (PTIC) in Moscow last year, where the Russian importer expressed interest in sourcing coconut milk and other coconut products from the Philippines.
