As the cool Tagaytay breeze whispers the arrival of the holiday season, Taal Vista Hotel recently marked an important milestone with its Christmas Tree Lighting and Anniversary Dinner. With the theme “Timeless Christmas,” the event was a celebration of cherished tradition and a nod to its storied history.
The evening began with the much-anticipated lighting of the grand Christmas tree. Illuminating the hotel’s iconic facade, the tree stood as a radiant symbol of joy and gratitude.

With its unparalleled view of Taal Volcano, Taal Vista Hotel is the ideal destination to embrace the Christmas spirit. The air carries a festive charm, reminding visitors that the holidays are best celebrated with warmth, tradition, and the company of loved ones.
General Manager Ramon Makilan set the tone for the evening, expressing heartfelt thanks: “On our 85th anniversary, we are grateful to have been part of your lives, big or small, and we are thankful to each and every one of you for always making us your home.”

The event was graced by Elizabeth Sy, president of SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation (SMHCC), alongside Peggy Angeles, SMHCC executive vice president. A touching highlight was the ceremonial gift-giving for children from the Augustinian Sisters Servants of Jesus and Mary, spreading the spirit of generosity that defines the season.
A walk through time
Before the festivities began, guests were treated to a journey through history with the relaunch of “A Walk Through Time,” an exhibit chronicling 85 years of Taal Vista Hotel’s legacy. This immersive display offered a deeper appreciation for the hotel’s intertwined stories with Tagaytay’s rich heritage and the ever-majestic Taal Volcano.

Dinner that evening was an exquisite affair. A six-course menu, meticulously curated by Chef Leah Magallanes, Executive Chef Jayme Natividad, and Chef Ely Salar, paid homage to the milestones of Filipino history. From Homemade Chocolate Ravioli to the Kitayama Striploin with Tagaytay Mushrooms, each dish was a culinary masterpiece, paired perfectly with Italian wines from Wine Hub.
“This menu reflects not just flavors but the essence of time—honoring history while embracing the modern,” Chef Leah said.
The evening’s entertainment transported guests back to the 1930s, the era when Taal Vista Hotel first opened its doors as Taal Vista Lodge. A musical revue, “As Time Goes By,” featured performances by Kayla Rivera, Vien King, Josh Espinosa, and young pianist Kim Dominik Sarmiento. The ballroom came alive with timeless classics, a nostalgic tribute to the hotel’s beginnings.
Adorned with fresh floral centerpieces by Amante Fleurs and elegant lighting by Artuz, the ballroom exuded timeless sophistication, making the night even more magical.

For 85 years, Taal Vista Hotel has stood as an elegant landmark in Tagaytay, creating cherished memories for generations. As it ushers in another holiday season, it invites everyone to experience the magic of a “Timeless Christmas” in a place where history and the holidays come alive.
