Palawan and Boracay, two of the country’s prime tourism destinations, have made it to the Big 7 Travel’s list of the 50 Most Beautiful Places in the world, ranking 8th and 18th, respectively.
Big 7 Travel provides current, curated travel recommendations.
The website says this about Palawan: “This immaculate string of islands is seen as some of the best in the world and it’s pretty obvious why. Palawan is a fantastic triple threat of diverse wildlife, pristine landscapes and subterranean marvels. Because of its stretch across the Sulu and South China seas, it boasts a huge variety of nature from steep limestone cliffs to jaw dropping coves and unbelievable beaches.”
While Boracay is described as a “pristine island” and “one of the world’s top destinations for some R&R. Tranquil beaches, casual nightlife and lush tropical scenery makes it easy to see why. The peaceful island also boasts a unique food scene and has managed to maintain its unique Aklanon culture.”
The citation brings immense pride not only to the Department of Tourism (DOT), but to the entire country as well, said Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
“This recognition comes at an auspicious time, just as our efforts to reopen tourism in Boracay and Palawan to a greater number of tourists have come to fruition. The DOT is optimistic that the inclusion in this prestigious list will inspire more people to regain confidence to travel, helping the Philippine tourism industry to recover after this challenging period. Moreover, the DOT remains fully committed to restart tourism especially in our premiere destinations with health and safety protocols in place to ensure the well-being of our visitors,” Puyat said.
Boracay and Palawan have recently reopened for tourism and are currently accepting guests from the region and those coming from general quarantine areas, but they need to present negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test prior to travel to the islands.
